Please note this is a continuous recruit posting to build an applicant pool for all schools. As positions become available all qualified applicants with complete application files will be considered. Should a specific location/job be posted you may also be required to apply to that posting.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The School Counselor will assist students with problems and decisions involved in understanding themselves and the world in which they live and will work. This individual will assist students in making decisions about their future schooling and occupational interests. They will also serve as a resource for parents/guardians teachers and other adults involved with the students.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teachers License with appropriate endorsement as a school counselor PreK-12 or equivalent
- Possess an earned masters degree in counseling with an emphasis in school counseling
- Demonstrate ability to support students by cooperatively working with parents/guardians and teachers
- Integrate technology into classroom instruction to enhance learning
- Utilize Google Drive for instructional purposes collaboration and managing coursework
- Create and maintain an inclusive supportive learning environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and needs of all students
- Communicate effectively with strong written verbal presentation and interpersonal skills
- Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families
- Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment
- Demonstrate dependability punctuality and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities
PREFERENCE GIVEN FOR:
- Counselor and teaching experience
FLSA: Exempt
SALARY: $55886.14 - $85613.64 annually (Masters scale) with benefits; commensurate with experience
