Job Description

General/Position Summary.

The Medical Education Manager will be part of the Canadian Medical Affairs team focusing on the planning and delivery of medical plans and ensuring medical education excellence in Canada. The post holder will be responsible for new and existing programs and work closely with the Medical Advisor and the Therapeutic Areas Medical Directors to build meaningful medical education activities and ensure these are executed compliantly and according to Canadian guidelines.

Key Duties & Responsibilities.

  • Works in close collaboration with the Canada Medical Leadership to ensure the timely implementation of the Medical Education plan.
  • Leads the planning and development process aspects of Vertex sponsored medical education events and activities measurable by defined metrics.
  • Builds and manages collaborative relationships with internal cross functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Timely and appropriate external communications with external stakeholders.
  • Thorough understanding of IMC and medical education requirements for accredited and unaccredited events in Canada.
  • Empowered to ensure compliance and maintain appropriate medical commercial interactions both internally and externally whilst adhering to applicable legislation and Vertex policies.
  • Confident managing external agencies to ensure timely delivery of work within agreed timelines and budget whilst safeguarding the quality of work.
  • Ability to work with the office of business integrity and legal to identify advise and implement process improvements to ensure optimal compliance and process efficiency.
  • Able to travel as required.

Required Education Level Minimum level of education needed

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree (or equivalent) level of qualification in life sciences

Required Experience

  • 5 years of experience in medical education / pharmaceutical industry

Required Knowledge/Skills

  • Experience of planning and delivering medical education projects
  • Ability to professionally communicate with external stakeholders
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Outstanding communication and inter-personal skills
  • High-level of IT literacy proficient user of Microsoft Office tools
  • Proven capability to manage projects and stakeholders
  • Confident working in a team
  • Fluent in English / French is an asset

In this Hybrid-Eligible role you can choose to be designated as:
1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
2. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
