Job Summary

Your mission
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Service Management Intern to support the development and delivery of our global IT services. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with the Global Head of IT and contribute to how our IT organization defines documents and communicates its services to internal stakeholders. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience across service management system implementation andinternal communications helping to shape how IT enables our mission worldwide.


Your Challenge

You will provide essential support to the Global Head of IT and IT Team Leader in the areas outlined below. On a daily basis this may include data collection and documentation drafting IT service offerings developing communication materials and engaging with the global IT community.

While there may be opportunities to assist with operational activities this position is primarily a project-based internship focused on supporting the implementation of an IT Service Catalogue at War Child.

We understand the importance of aligning your internship with your academic requirements. Any obligations you may have related to your studies will be discussed to ensure that your time with War Child supports both your learning and your transition into the job market.

What you will do:

Stakeholder Engagement
Frequently engage and collaborate with key stakeholders for input requirements feedback and ultimately sign-off on the Service Catalogue (consultative function).

Service Definition and Design
Create a Service Catalogue (i.e. an IT menu) that contains all the services and cost that can be requested by our internal customers (design function).

System Implementation
Working with the Jira System administrator redesign War Childs service desk ticketing interface to match the newly designed Service Catalogue (implementation function).

Communications
Assist with general IT communication including the release of the new Service Catalogue and Ticketing systems redesign (communication function).
Your profile
  • Student of HBO or Bachelor program focusing on Information Technology or Technology Management
  • You areenrolled in a Netherlands higher education institutefor the whole duration of the internship
  • You have knowledge of service and process design preferably ITIL Service Management
  • Experience or interest in the NGO or development sector is an advantage
  • Ability to produce quality work outputs within agreed priorities and to deadlines
  • Ability to maintain contacts at different levels
  • Excellent planning & organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
  • Pro-active independent and flexible
  • Interested to work and communicate with people from various backgrounds
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills including presentation preparation and delivery
  • Excellent command of English language both spoken and written
  • Available for 4-5 days a week
  • Available to start January 2026 for a minimum period of 6 months. Preferably 8 months or more.
What we offer
We are looking for an IT Intern who will join the Global ICT Team from January 2026for a period of atleast 6 months 4-5 days per week. As intern in War Child you can count on an interesting internship with an opportunity to learn a lot. Of course you will get guidance but also freedom to work out your ideas. You will receive an internship allowance of 300 - gross per month based on 40 hours per week.

Please note that War Child interns need to be enrolled as students at a Netherlands educational institution for the duration of their internship. Please note that this internship does not suit students who are in their thesis writing semesters.

War Child is a medium-sized aid organization. The Department of Finance IT & Risk Management is part of a Global Shared Platform a service centre that serves fundraising teams in Europe and the USA as well as field-oriented teams based in countries and regions affected by conflict. The Shared Platform is the result of a merger of the War Child organizations in the Netherlands and in the UK as per 1 January 2024. 2024 and 2025 will see quite a few activities to get things right.
