North East Frasers CYMH teams are passionate community-focused professionals who deliver mental health services in fast-paced and diverse urban environments. We work alongside school districts health partners and Indigenous service providers to offer responsive and coordinated care for children and youth experiencing mental health challenges.

The Role
As a Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Clinician youll support the mental wellness of children youth and families through direct clinical services such as intake assessment treatment suicide risk assessment safety planning and crisis intervention for ages 018. Working flexibly across homes schools communities and offices youll collaborate with professionals including educators healthcare providers Indigenous service organizations and community agencies to deliver holistic care. Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) with a Bachelors degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum of one (1) year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Preference may be given to applicants who self-identify as having an Indigenous heritage (First Nations Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with two (2) years of experience working with children and youth and their families with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.


WILLINGNESS STATEMENTS/PROVISOS

  • You must possess and maintain a valid B.C. Class 5 drivers license (note - if you currently have a valid drivers license in Canada and if you are the successful applicant you must acquire a valid B.C. Class 5 drivers license immediately).
  • May be required to work evening/weekends.
  • May be required to travel to remote locations.
  • May be required to use own vehicle on an expense account basis.
  • May be required to work with families and children and youth who are distressed and facing challenges which may occasionally involve exposure to unpleasant situations or behaviour with angry abusive or abused clients; exposure to hazards from frequently working around parents and/or children in crisis who may display volatile behaviour.
