Martin Middle School is seeking qualified applicants for the role of halftime Assistant Principal halftime teacher. Qualified applicants will hold a Tennessee endorsement qualifying them to teachmiddle school (all subjects considered)and either hold or be working toward a Tennessee Administrators License. This is a 10-month teacher schedule position with an additional stipend for halftime assistant principal duties.

Purpose of Job | Assist and act in place of the school principal to plan direct or coordinate the academic administrative and auxiliary activities of the elementary/middle/high school. To manage through the use of leadership supervisory and administrative skills so as to promote the educational development of each student and the professional development of the total staff. | ||
Qualifications | Masters degree. Administrative or supervisory experience and certification in accordance with state law and State Board rules and regulations. Current valid educator license with appropriate endorsement. Experience in the area/grade level assigned preferred Full-time administrators shall not serve as head coaches for major high school sports | ||
Essential Functions or Duties | Serves as Principal in the absence of the regular Principal. Assists the Principal in the implementation supervision and assessment of the total school instructional program. Assists the Principal in the selection assignment orientation and evaluation of staff. Assists the Principal in the supervision of student conduct and extra-curricular activities. Assists the Principal with teacher evaluations and classified evaluations. Assists the Principal in the coordination of programs and services supplementary to the instructional program. Supervises Teachers and departments as assigned by the Principal. Works closely with the school counseling department and school social workers in assisting with student problems. Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance and works with the Administrative Assistant for investigative follow-up actions. Supervises the schools safety security and environmental control programs. Assumes responsibility for building care and maintenance. Works with Bus Drivers on bus problems relating to student behavior. Assigns bus duty to Teachers on a scheduled basis for supervision of students before and after school. Supervises and/or coordinates field trips and athletic activities. Confers with parents and staff to discuss educational activities policies and student behavioral or learning problems. Observes teaching methods and examine learning materials to evaluate and standardize curricula and teaching techniques and to determine areas where improvement is needed. Collaborates with Teachers to develop and maintain curriculum standards develop mission statements and set performance goals and objectives. Assists to recruit hire train and evaluate noncertified staff. Evaluates curricula teaching methods and programs to determine their effectiveness efficiency and utilization and to ensure that school activities comply with federal state and local regulations. Set educational standards and goals and help establish policies and procedures to carry them out. Plan and lead professional development activities for Teachers administrators and support staff. Review and approve new programs or recommend modifications to existing programs submitting program proposals for school board approval as necessary. Participate in special education-related activities such as attending meetings and providing support to special educators throughout the school. Collect and analyze survey data regulatory information and academic data on trends to forecast patterns and needs. Performs other duties assigned by the Principal or as needed at the school Perform all duties with integrity professionalism and in compliance with all school district state and federal laws/policies.
