Senior Specialist Eligibility Transfers & Security - Hybrid
The Opportunity
The Regulatory Applications branch of the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is seeking a Senior Specialist to join the Eligibility Transfers & Security (ETS) this role you will advise on complex matters involving various eligibility transfer and security application processes under numerous directives.
This position offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute your expertise in liability management and risk assessment. As a Senior Specialist you will play a pivotal role in supporting organizational processes collaborating with cross-functional teams and ensuring the seamless execution of key functions. Your insights and technical knowledge will help shape best practices and drive operational efficiency in a dynamic and evolving environment.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members and decision makers regarding complex matters related to all application types overseen by the team.
Ensure liability management principles are appropriately considered on eligibility licence transfer and security refund applications and decisions.
Make statutory decisions on certain Directive 067 Directive 068 and Directive 088 application types.
Oversee the development of audit and verification processes and analyze data from these processes to inform decisions on strategy viability risk assessment criteria or approval conditions.
Coordinate with and participate in project teams to develop or amend application rules or requirements as needed.
Support and facilitate any Government of Alberta (GoA) policy implementations related to liability management strategies.
Maintain technical competence in liability management corporate business structure insolvency proceedings economics public policy and AER and surrounding jurisdictions (like British Columbia or Saskatchewan) rules and regulations by reviewing current technical literature attending courses and conferences and participating in relevant discussions with AER executive leadership industry groups and government committees.
What were looking for in you:
Bachelors degree in law economics public policy or actuarial science.
7 years of experience in the energy sector with a focus on regulatory or public policy work.
Experience leading and mentoring multi-disciplinary teams and /or projects.
Strong ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form with a variety of stakeholders.
Fundamental understanding of technical aspects of liability management and closure processes and the relevant associated legislation.
Skilled in creating and delivering presentations.
