PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing as a part of the overall effort to enhance the reputation relationships and visibility of the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University this position is responsible for implementing the schools integrated mission-based communications and marketing that help engage the diverse prospective students alumni and external stakeholders. The Marketing and Communication Specialist will have an understanding of market segments as well as the Schools programs and be able to represent and market academic programs accurately and persuasively to prospective students and others. The Marketing and Communications Specialists work will be informed by JST-SCUs strategic Plan En Camino.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Marketing

  • Provide support to the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing in the development of a comprehensive creative and effective marketing strategy and plans.
  • Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing coordinate with Santa Clara Universitys department of Marketing and Communication (UMC) to produce marketing materials and collateral including program brochures print and digital advertisements and development appeals.
  • Execute marketing strategy and plans to advance JST-SCU in areas of admissions development outreach and public profile.

2.Communications

  • Provide support to the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing in the development of a comprehensive creative and effective communication strategy and plans.
  • Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing oversee the continuous development of content (i.e. student profiles alumni spotlight faculty in the news) and the management of its distribution on multiple mediums including the JST-SCU website email newsletter and social media.
  • Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing prepare electronic communications that are delivered through Slate to prospective students applicants and admitted students.
  • Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing implement an active social media plan that supports both enrollment and external relations goals.
  • Represent JST-SCU on SCUs social media council.
  • Occasionally represent JST-SCU at recruitment events such as webinars information sessions graduate fairs and other sponsored events.

3.Web Management

  • Serve as JST-SCUs primary website editor.
  • Consistently monitor JST-SCUs website ensuring that all content is accurate relative and up to date.
  • Under the direction of the Assistant dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing implement a website management strategy and structure identifying specific website editors and parameters for implementing changes.

4.Research and Analysis

  • Track and measure the effectiveness of communication and marketing efforts and prepare regular reports for the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing.
  • Assist the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing in market research and assessment including research and analysis of current markets with goals of understanding trends forecasting future directions and identifying competitors and aspirational schools and seeking out new opportunities
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing identify marketing strategies to support new academic programs and program delivery systems
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing identify strategies and markets that can be targeted to generate qualified leads

5.Other duties as assigned in support of JSTs mission

May at times provide work direction for Graduate Assistants.

D. GENERAL GUIDELINES

Recommends initiatives and implements changes to improve quality and services Identifies and determines cause of problems; develops and presents recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices Maintains contact with customers and solicits feedback for improved services Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate tools; planned training and performance initiatives. Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow Prepares progress reports; informs supervisor of project status; and deviation from goals Ensures completeness accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions Prepares and submits reports as requested and required Develops and implements guidelines to support the functions of the unit


E. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of the values ideals and mission of Jesuit education and the Jesuit School of Theology
  • Understanding of the nature of theology the specific sub-disciplines of theology and the theological education and ministerial formation; insight into different graduate theological degrees and the use to which they can be applied.
  • An informed perspective of the nature of ATS-accredited theological institutions
  • Understanding of or willingness and ability to learn best practices in cultivation of and communication with alumni donor students and other constituents
  • Understanding of or willingness and ability to learn the uses of electronic and print media
  • Understanding or willingness and ability to learn the process of integrating digital and print aspects of a campaign
  • Understanding of or willingness and ability to learn marketing public relations annual fund solicitation and special event planning method and techniques
  • Understanding of diversity equity and inclusion practices

Excellent writing skills in a marketing context for multiple audiences

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Demonstrated experience managing a professional social media account

Proficiency overseeing the design and production of digital materials print materials and publications

  • Early adopter attitude toward ever-evolving technology and willingness to learn new applications and systems
  • Ability to work effectively and tactfully with a wide range of both internal and external groups; ability to collaborate effectively with co-workers and share appropriate information in a timely and proactive fashion
  • Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and in particular with communities of color
  • Ability to exercise judgement and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to speak and write Spanish is preferred.

  • Bachelor Degree required

of Experience

  • One to three years of experience in marketing communication or related responsibilities preferably in higher education or a non-profit organization.
