What We Are Looking For
The Lactation Specialist will establish and maintain a comprehensive program to support breastfeeding in the post-partum period performing patient evaluations assessments developing individual treatment plans for each mother-baby and setting clear feeding goals.
Schedule: 5 days per week 8 hours per day Monday - Friday Location: SBC Clinic San Bernardino CA
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive program to support breastfeeding in the post-partum period.
- Performing patient evaluations assessments.
- Developing individual treatment plans for each mother-baby and setting clear feeding goals.
- Responsible for providing patient/family breastfeeding education.
- Interacting regularly with other team members including learners to provide multidisciplinary treatment plans for all patients within the program.
- Adhere to the Scope of Practice for International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).
- Interacting with community resources such as breastfeeding coalitions and continuing
education opportunities in an effort to provide the highest level of advocacy and care for our patients. - Maintaining oversite of equipment utilization within the clinic along with awareness of available resources to access equipment.
- Participate in opportunities for clinical measurements involving patient treatments and/or outcomes.
- Must have the ability to be consistent in following/enforcing and developing policies.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality adheres to all HIPPA guidelines and regulations.
- Must be able to adhere to the Attendance policy and procedure; must maintain a clean professional demeanor in all situations ability to work cohesively within a group setting.
- Demonstrate the ability to be culturally sensitive and respect diversity work
effectively and with individuals of different cultures and socioeconomic status; Passion for service. - It is the expectation of SAC that all staff members exhibit critical thinking and problem solving skills which means going above and beyond your job description to find a solution.
- Other duties as assigned by department leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors degree in Health Sciences or related field preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: A current CPR/BLS certification (must be American Heart Association or Red Cross accredited program). Current certification by International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE). As a requirement of this position you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into. Additional coursework in prenatal education or certification as a Childbirth Educator is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in lactation consulting required. Two (2) years providing perinatal health education in a community or public health setting is desired. Outpatient experience is preferred.
- Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Read write legibly and speak in English (and Spanish preferably) with professional quality. Use computer and basic software programs necessary for the job description. Collect accurate data related to research objectives. Perform basic math functions.
- Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication excellent listening and the ability to lead supervise teach and collaborate. These skills also include working independently managing multiple tasks staying calm under pressure and functioning well in a teaching environment. Demonstrating cultural sensitivity respecting diversity and showing a passion for service are essential.
- Essential Mental Abilities:Pay close attention to detail and recall information accurately. Be consistent in following and/or enforcing and developing policies.
Manage multiple assignments effectively .Think critical problem solve; organize and prioritize workload. - Work Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visas.
