The current digital era is an exciting time to work in archives. National Records of Scotland (NRS) is accepting increasing amounts of archival digital records which are bringing new challenges and opportunities on everything from collections management to user needs. NRS needs to grow its digital archiving capabilities to ensure we can continue to respond to this change and preserve the record of modern Scotland. These 2 posts will play a key role in this mission.
The Digital Archiving Branch (DAB) delivers the processes that enable NRS to preserve digital formats (across born digital digital surrogates and web archiving) and the associated metadata required to ensure their long-term accessibility and integrity (across systems and catalogues). The primary focus of these roles will be operational support for our web archive with additional contributions to broader digital preservation and cataloguing tasks as needed.
