Join the Research Services team in the Parliamentary Library Te Pātaka Rangahau and help deliver impartial research and data to members of Parliament select committees and parliamentary agencies. We are a collaborative customer-focused group committed to supporting a strong thriving democracy.

Mō te tūnga About the Role

As Senior Data Insights Adviser you will lead our move to visual-first research productssetting standards coaching others and ensuring Parliament receives clear consistent and impartial data insights.

Guide a small team and step up as a trusted advisor. Were looking for someone proactive and passionate about turning data into stories that matter.

You dont need to be a Power BI specialist what matters is versatility curiosity and the ability to apply the right tools to tell compelling stories.

Ngā haepapa matua Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and uphold editorial and visual standards for all data products
  • Coach and mentor two Data Insights Advisers building capability and best practice
  • Partner with the Research Lead to plan sequence and evaluate a visual-first work programme
  • Scope prioritise and deliver high-impact visual research products using Power BI ArcGIS and M365
  • Drive innovation and apply automation and AI to enhance workflows and data storytelling
  • Champion data literacy contribute to responsive research and foster strong relationships within the team and across Parliament
  • Bring your project management skills to drive a visual-first work programme and deliver high-impact insights

Tō kete What You Will Bring

  • Demonstrated experience in data visualisation and storytelling producing clear accessible and impartial insights through charts maps dashboards and briefs
  • Proven ability to coach mentor and influence others building capability and best practice across a team
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to partner with the Research Lead and engage effectively across Parliament
  • Practical experience in planning prioritising and delivering a programme of work in a fast-paced responsive environment
  • Proficiency with data tools such as Excel PowerBI ArcGIS and M365 (experience withPython R SQL or AI/automation tools is an advantage)
  • Understanding of research analysis or service delivery in a parliamentary public sector or similarly responsive setting
  • A relevant tertiary qualification

Please note: This is a full-time role. The salary range for this position is $95496 - $105453 per annum with the potential for the salary to exceed this range based on skills and experience.
