Do you want to support a broad policy work programme that will help shape the future of New Zealands creative and cultural sectors

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Policy Adviser to join our Media & Screen Policy team.



Kōrero mō te tūranga About the role

In this role youll work on complex and meaningful policy challenges that require balancing of economic cultural and social outcomes. Youll provide strategic advice to Ministers on a range of policy issues impacting on the media and screen sectors. This includes advising on matters such as investment in local content that New Zealanders access on our screens radios and other devices growing our creative and cultural exports and stewardship of broadcasting legislation and public media outcomes.

We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who can hit the ground running think strategically work through ambiguity and build effective return we offer varied and interesting work with ample opportunities to apply and grow your policy skills within a supportive team.

You will need to demonstrate:

  • A track record of leading complex pieces of analysis applying appropriate frameworks
  • Excellent analytical project management and communication skills with attention to detail and ability to work at pace while maintaining quality
  • Proven ability to deliver succinct accurate and well-reasoned policy products that anticipate and meet the needs of Ministers
  • Sound judgement political acumen and adaptability
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills with experience influencing and shaping thinking at senior levels
  • Experience coaching mentoring and supporting team members
  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how to consider its application in your work.
