What You Will Do:

We are seeking a hands-on Process & Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in mechanical design and process engineering to support daily operations troubleshooting and continuous improvement within our CVI line. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with high-temperature processing equipment contribute to design optimization and gain deep expertise in advanced material technologies.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated engineer to combine mechanical and manufacturing expertise to enhance the production of cutting-edge materials for aerospace and defense applications.

Youll become part of a collaborative cross-disciplinary team developing advanced materials through precision process and mechanical engineering. This is a rare chance to work on cutting-edge aerospace technologies learn CVI processes from the ground up and contribute to the innovation of advanced materials for next-generation aerospace and defense applications. Your work will have a direct impact on production success and technological advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical system design upgrades and failure mode investigations to address deviations and improve reliability.

• Monitor and refine process parameters equipment performance and mechanical system reliability to drive consistency throughput and yield improvement.

• Identify analyze and resolve process and equipment anomalies to ensure stable high-quality output.

• Oversee daily furnace operations including job scheduling process tracking and prepare comprehensive job reports run logs SOPs and quality control documentations.

• Partner with the Controls Engineer to implement and validate PID tuning automation strategies and process control improvements.

• Plan and execute process experiments design evaluations and data-driven optimization studies.

• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to design and deploy tooling fixtures and handling systems that improve process efficiency and repeatability.

• Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and promote a clean well-organized lab and production environment.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Bachelors in Mechanical Materials or Chemical Engineering or other related engineering disciplines with 5 years of experience in process manufacturing or equipment engineering or 3 years with an advanced degree in a manufacturing or production environment.

• Strong data analysis skills by evaluating test experiment results to identify correlations between various recipes and their outcomes enabling data-driven insights and optimization of processes.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Familiarity with CVI and/or CVD film coating processes mechanical systems vacuum systems gas handling or thermal equipment is highly desirable.

• Strong experience with CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks AutoCAD) for mechanical design and familiarity with manufacturing processes.

• Strong analytical mindset mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication project management and technical writing abilities.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles commuting to and from the assigned site is the employees personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 90000 USD - 182000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
