Job Description
Our client a rapidly growing and entrepreneurial manufacturing company in Dartmouth is seeking a Senior Accountant to help shape their financial operations and support exciting growth across the business.
This newly created role comes as a result of the companys rapid expansion and continued success and will oversee core accounting functions ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and provide valuable insights to support strategic decision-making. The role also includes supervision of an Accounts Payable Clerk.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Oversee full-cycle accounting including general ledger accounts payable/receivable payroll and month- and year-end processes
- Prepare and analyze financial statements budgets forecasts and variance reports in accordance with ASPE/GAAP
- Monitor and control manufacturing costs and maintain cost accounting systems
- Ensure compliance with tax requirements prepare filings and liaise with auditors and external partners
- Develop and maintain internal controls policies and procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency
- Provide financial insights risk assessments and recommendations to support business planning and growth
- Support ERP evaluation and implementation process automation and other strategic initiatives
Experience & Attributes for Success:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or Business (CPA designation or in progress is strongly preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience in manufacturing or product-based industries is considered an asset
- Knowledge of cost accounting and reporting is an asset
- Proficiency with technology in general and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent analytical leadership and communication abilities
- Adaptable organized and attention to detail are key as the company is rapidly growing and developing new processes to support
