TITLE: Potts Court Watch Intern
JOB CATEGORY: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
STATUS: Part-Time 18 hours per week.

REGION/UNIT: US/South Region
LOCATION: Greensboro NC USA Hybrid.

The Potts Court Watch Intern will support AFSC North Carolinas work to build power with a coalition that uplifts the voices of low-income tenants and communities most harmed by systemic housing injustice. Rooted in Quaker values and guided by AFSCs mission to promote peace with justice the intern will assist in ongoing efforts to monitor eviction court collect and analyze data and uplift the narratives of people impacted by eviction and displacement. This is a one-year part-time paid position that offers direct experience in grassroots organizing housing policy advocacy and movement building for housing as a human right.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Attends and supervises volunteers for morning and afternoon court sessions Monday Thursday.
- Assist in coordinating and supporting the Eviction Court Watch program including volunteer recruitment training and logistics.
- Support data entry and analysis related to evictions housing conditions and tenant experiences.
- Assist with the development of public education materials storytelling campaigns and social media content.
- Help plan events rallies and healing gatherings related to housing justice.
- Providing orientation onboarding and ongoing training.
- Offering regular check-ins and feedback.
- Supporting professional development and learning goals.
- Ensuring alignment with program goals and organizational values.
- Tracking intern hours.
- Addressing any concerns or challenges with the support of AFSCs HR and regional staff.
- Regular attendance and punctuality are required.
- Operates safely in all conditions and follows policies and procedures.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
SUPERVISORY / MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Enrollment in or completion of undergraduate program in social work political science public policy sociology community organizing or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience previous Court Watch program activities or related field required.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends and to travel as
- Ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment.
- Experience with standard Microsoft Office and related technology.
- Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with diverse staff.
- Respect for Quaker values and testimonies. Knowledgeable and supportive of the principles and philosophy of the American Friends Service Committee including non-violence and the belief in the intrinsic worth of every individual.
- Respect for and sensitivity to cultural ethnic racial gender and religious diversity and familiarity with non-violent approaches to problem solving.

The AFSC offers a competitive Total Rewards package. This position is Non-Exempt Salary Family: Intern Job Code Intern Starting Hourly Rate $22. There are no medical dental or life insurance benefits or short-term or long-term insurance benefits with this position. AFSC does participate in unemployment workers compensation and social security.
