DescriptionDriver Class A SummaryThe Class A Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste from customer locations or company facilities to approved disposal sites in compliance with DOT HAZMAT and RCRA regulations. This role ensures materials are handled efficiently and safely protecting people property and the environment while upholding Clean Harbors high standards of service and compliance.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities- Transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste (tankers vans or roll-off dump trailers) between customer sites company facilities and disposal locations in accordance with DOT and HAZMAT regulations.
- Communicate with dispatch and coordinators regarding routes schedules and demurrage.
- Safely load secure and unload drums and materials; ensure proper segregation and weight compliance.
- Maintain accurate placarding of vehicles per DOT requirements.
- Complete and maintain driver logs inspection reports trip sheets timecards and expense reports accurately.
- Inspect clean and maintain assigned vehicles and equipment to ensure safe operation.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures participating in training and compliance programs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QualificationsQualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: 0 3 years of commercial driving experience; hazardous waste transport preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid Class A CDL with Hazmat (H) and Tanker (N) endorsements required.
- Must pass DOT physical and obtain a TWIC card if applicable.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and independent problem-solving ability.
- Excellent safety awareness and compliance discipline.
- Proficiency with mobile computer systems.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs move drums up to 800 lbs (with dolly) and travel 75% or more.
Pay TransparencyCompensation is based on experience endorsements and location.
