    The Superintendent of Georgetown Public Schools seeks dynamic and effective leaders to serve as Principal of the Georgetown Middle/High School.

    About the Georgetown Community
    Georgetown is a small community of 9000 residents located in Essex County Massachusetts in the Merrimack Valley. The town is located approximately 10 miles east of Lawrence 11 miles south-southwest of Newburyport 28 miles north of Boston and 16 miles from the New Hampshire border. Georgetown offers close access to beaches parks open spaces and highways. The natural surroundings include many streams and brooks as well as two major ponds Rock Pond and Pentucket Pond. The town has several areas of protected land including the Georgetown-Rowley State Forest to the south the Crane Pond Wildlife Management Area to the north the Lufkins Brook Area to the west and a small portion of the Boxford State Forest in the southwest.

    About Georgetown Public Schools
    Georgetown Public Schools services 1100 students in two school buildings. Penn Brook Elementary School is a PreK through Grade 5 building with 4-5 classes per grade level. Georgetown Middle and High Schools are housed in the same building but striving to develop their own identities. The middle school educates 300 students in Grades 6 through 8 with their own core academic teachers. The high school completes students education journey with Grades 9 through 12. There is a historic sense of pride shared by students and staff alike that focuses on being a small town on the North Shore with a stand-alone school district.

    About the Position
    The next Principal of Georgetown Middle/High School will be a transformative leader in supporting the schools wonderful staff in cementing modern approach to teaching and learning ensuring all students feel like they belong and are connected and drive the redesign initiative that will make Georgetown Middle/High School a destination on the North Shore. The role will continue to support the implementation of high-quality education materials a targeted and cohesive professional development plan and exciting innovation including expanding student learning beyond the walls of the building. The position requires someone who is a proven change agent and an advocate for students and staff. This individual must be able to implement and maintain high standards and should be trustworthy and able to build trust within the school and community. The next principal will be a team builder who forms positive relationships with all constituency groups and demonstrates professional and ethical behavior; will be able to oversee curricular changes and report results; and will be an effective communicator both orally and in writing. The successful candidate is able to ensure compliance with federal and state standards and mandates and manage the day to day operations of the school. Above all the school requires a collaborative leader when working with school and district personnel. A masters degree is required and certification in Massachusetts as middle/high school principal is projected salary for the position is $140000 - $160000 depending on the qualifications and experiences of the successful candidate.
