ELA EHS Curriculum Committee
Description: The EHS ELA Curriculum Planning Team will support teachers with the planning of implementation of ELA curriculum in grades 9-12 during the 2025-2026 school year. The team members will meet in person to plan curriculum maps pacing guides and common assessments for the 9-12 grade teams supporting the delivery of effective and equitable student-centered instruction. The team will create curriculum maps common writing assignments lesson plans for each unit of study and a vertically aligned pacing guide with set dates for unit assessments midterm and final exams and the IXL diagnostic cycle. Team members will communicate frequently with the EHS Director of ELA.
Working Time: Meetings will be held after or before school
Requirements: Current member of EHS ELA Department or ESL Special Education department teacher with ELA responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Rich and varied experience with literacy curriculum and instruction
- Strong growth mindset and collaborative skills
- Student-centered approach to literacy instruction with high expectations for student achievement
- Compensation: Up to $760 based on $40/ hr for 19 hours outside of school time
- Number of Positions: up to 21 teachers
Essential Duties:
- Plan lessons aligned to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks that support the implementation of HQIM the districts instructional priority and support differentiation for the ELL and students with disabilities.
- Attend meetings before or after school as planned and actively engage with other team members.
- Collaborate with ESL and special education to ensure differentiation and provide varied entry points making lessons accessible to all students.
- Plan lessons to focus on emphasizing instructional literacy aligned to EPSs Instructional Focus and Student-Centered Strategies while also developing 810 writing prompts for the year. These prompts will be strategically crafted and aligned to prepare students for MCAS writing SAT-style writing and eventual AP-level coursework.
- Create rubrics and exemplars for writing assignments. Share student work and engage in looking at student work protocols as time allows.
- Implement lessons and materials that are developed by the team.
- Share all materials created with other team members in the shared drive as well as with the Director of ELA Grades 9-12.
- Engage in other activities planning and materials development that support alignment of HQIM and instruction to the goals of increasing student achievement.
