Job Summary

Role summary

Engineers in this role typically develop products and components from the concept stage through design and final fabrication to address a defined equipment need. They may research existing designs for a current problem to determine if there is an effective commercial solution. They may also research and specify individual components from multiple suppliers and evaluate their effectiveness to ensure that they will interface with each other in the final design.

Individuals in Research and Development Engineering roles typically develop documentation using various software applications like automated CAD models/drawings commercial component specifications sheets bill of materials instruction manuals or operational procedures.

Engineers in these roles may interact with other engineering specialties or customers to understand what is required from an equipment/process perspective to facilitate the development or the improvement of a product.

Your role
Applies engineering principles in problem solving.
Translates customer needs into basic technical requirements given clearly defined customer specifications.
Develops multiple alternative design concepts using basic evaluation techniques to select dominant approach.
Develops detailed designs using advanced design methods including Vibration and Modal Analysis FEA FMEA and RCA
Simulates and evaluates product performance against requirements using advanced engineering tools (linear non-linear FEA CFD etc.)
Evaluates and accepts technical risks for design projects.
Leads projects utilizing project management skills.
Oversees and facilitates design events (workshops design reviews) and acts as core team member on product development projects during gate reviews.
Ensures on-time performance for assigned tasks.
Ensures successful completion of development projects resolution of customer problems and implementation of engineered solutions based on internal/external customer feedback.

Your Profile
Engineering degree or equivalent and 10 years of experience in related field.
3-5 years of direct experience in R&D engineering.
Fluency in the English language is a must.
Proficiency using 2D and 3D CAD packages (SolidWords Autodesk Inventor or others)
Proficiency in reading detailed engineering drawings.
Ability to evaluate results of FEA and CFD reports.
Experience performing FMEA/DFMEA analysis.
Basic information technology tools including Windows Microsoft Office products and other related tools.
Experience working with PLM and ERP systems. Windchill and SAP are a plus.
Effective oral communication and presentation skills.
Proficiency in writing engineering/test reports to convey testing methods and conclusions.
Collaborative interpersonal skills.
Willingness to travel from base to Flowserve and other constituent site locations with travel requirements of up to 10%

Your ideal background
Broad knowledge of engineering is essential.
Experience in the field of engineering of rotating equipment and within a customer-oriented working environment.
Have knowledge of industrial pumps valves & mechanical seals.
Understanding LEAN process.
Knowledge of casting design and foundry techniques and Basic understanding of Value Engineering are also advantage.
Have an interest in innovative technologies such as 3D Printing or 3D Scanning.
