Job Summary

NAYA Family Center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Domestic Violence Community Advocate to join our Family Services Healing Circle this role you will provide culturally specific trauma-informed support to Native American and Alaska Native survivors of domestic and sexual violence who are unhoused or experiencing housing insecurity. Your primary focus will be to offer advocacy safety planning and connection to resources that promote stability healing and empowerment.

This position is primarily direct service (about 70%) with the remaining time focused on administrative tasks documentation and coordination with community partners. You will collaborate closely with other NAYA programs and local service providers to ensure wraparound holistic support for survivors and their families.

This is a full-time position with general work hours of 9 am to 6 pm MondayFriday with a one-hour unpaid lunch. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required based on outreach needs or events. After training and onboarding there may be flexibility to work from home 12 days per week with supervisor approval.


The pay range for this position is $27.00 per hour.


Who You Are:

  • You have lived or professional experience supporting survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence including those experiencing housing instability.
  • You have knowledge of local housing and community resources that serve survivors families and unhoused individuals.
  • You are passionate about empowering survivors and committed to trauma-informed harm-reduction and culturally responsive advocacy.
  • You are knowledgeable about Native American history identity and the Urban Indian experience.
  • You are empathetic nonjudgmental and skilled at building trust in sensitive and high-stress situations.
  • You are adaptable and able to work effectively in diverse community environments including shelters and outreach settings.
  • You are organized detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple clients and documentation requirements.
  • You communicate clearly respectfully and effectively across diverse backgrounds and communities.
  • You are a collaborative team member who contributes to a supportive community-centered workplace.
  • You are proficient in computer skills including data entry Microsoft Office and email communication.

What Youll Do:

  • Provide direct mobile advocacy and crisis intervention for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
  • Conduct intakes safety planning goal setting and referrals for housing employment and basic needs.
  • Provide culturally specific outreach and education to community partners and outreach sites.
  • Support clients in navigating housing and social service systems to remove barriers to safety and stability.
  • Manage and distribute client assistance funds and supplies in alignment with program and funding requirement
  • Maintain accurate timely case notes and data in compliance with agency and funder standards.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings trainings and community outreach activities.
  • Represent NAYAs Healing Circle Program at community events and with partner organizations.
  • Support NAYAs mission by contributing to a safe inclusive and culturally grounded environment for community members
