The Parts Counter Salesperson is responsible for assisting wholesale and retail customers with parts inquiries orders and support both in-person and via phone or electronic communication. This role plays a key part in maintaining strong customer relationships ensuring order accuracy and contributing to overall departmental performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist customers and service technicians in identifying required parts using electronic catalogs and other resources.
- Process parts orders accurately and efficiently through the dealerships DMS (Dealer Management System).
- Provide price quotes availability information and delivery timelines to wholesale and retail customers.
- Handle phone walk-in and online orders in a timely professional and courteous manner.
- Maintain and grow relationships with wholesale accounts by providing exceptional service and support.
- Coordinate with warehouse and delivery staff to ensure timely dispatch and delivery of parts.
- Follow up on back ordered items and communicate status updates to customers.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Ford parts and accessories promotions and warranty policies.
- Support inventory control through returns processing stock adjustments and periodic counts.
- Work collaboratively with the service and body shop departments to fulfill internal parts requests.
- Comply with all safety standards dealership policies and manufacturer guidelines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training a plus.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in automotive parts sales preferably in a dealership or wholesale environment.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems Ford OEM parts preferred.
- Proficient in using parts lookup software (such as Snap on Ford EPC) and DMS systems (e.g. CDK Reynolds).
- Excellent communication organizational and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Frequent bending lifting and carrying of parts up to 50 lbs.
- Use of computer terminals phones and standard office equipment.
