Your role
CBC New Brunswick is looking for an accomplished visual storyteller and journalist to join our team. As the successful candidate you will use your superb craft skills to create compelling visual content on a range of stories that connect with contemporary Canada. You will bring innovation and creativity to your work with colleagues and our programs as well as original ideas that will help our content stand out in a crowded field. From pitching through shooting editing and delivery you will have the opportunity to use your journalistic and craft skills in all aspects of video storytelling.
As the successful candidate you have experience in a media environment producing high impact content and are highly skilled in all aspects of video editing shooting styles and techniques. You also have experience in producing high quality journalistic content and are able to make good editorial decisions in keeping with CBCs Journalistic Standards and Practices. You are knowledgeable about effective strategies for engaging audiences on a range of platforms including what works for streaming services. Experience using drone cameras and relevant drone certifications are considered an asset.

This role requires a full-time on-site presence.
Key Tasks:
Conceives contributes and develops story ideas and concepts.
Gather capture edit and manipulate content using current technology.
Prepares sets up and operates all core/key technical production equipment in order to create content ensuring optimal quality.
Develops the story content including researching interviewing writing and/or editing of material in conjunction with producers & journalists. Reports and/or presents stories.
Work with reporters video journalists and producers on visual content and presentation.
Determines the style pace tempo and format of the story item.
Decides which elements should be included in an item their order length and sequence as well as the method of transition from one element to another.
Participates in the preparation of programming and/or department objectives.
Performs all or part of the function or duties of an equivalent or lower classification.
As required performs the following tasks:
Performs location surveys and identifies special requirements for production such as audio video and lighting.
Books facilities required for the production shooting editing and assembly of material.
Perform routine minor maintenance and emergency repairs on technical production equipment.
Provide leadership and guidance.
Provide feedback to assist with work talent in the field.
Your work will adhere to CBC journalistic and/or program policies standards and practices but there is latitude for initiative independent judgement and creativity.
Occasionally there may be a requirement to coordinate the work of others.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
A combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from university or college plus 3 years of practical and relevant experience in video and photo editing.
Experience working with social and digital video in a news environment as well as the ability to think creatively in the production of video content.
Familiarity with photo and video equipment -- including Canon DSLR and C cameras Sony PMW200 and various still cameras and mobile devices -- and editing techniques and tools including Avid Media Composer Adobe Premiere Pro Photoshop and After Effects.
Experience using drone cameras and relevant drone certifications are considered an asset.
Experience in storytelling with a demonstrated ability to recognize the nuances of a story.
An interest in and knowledge of Atlantic provinces and their diverse communities.
An understanding of news production.
The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work effectively to multiple deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Able to work various shifts and overtime as required.
A strong sense of creativity initiative and a high degree of responsibility for the accuracy and quality of work throughout the complete production cycle.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours as required.
Possession of a valid drivers license as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canadas insurance company.
