What You Will Do
Represent the university to prospective students families military members veterans and community partners both on and off campus.
Direct and manage all operations of the SIUEMilitary and Veteran Resource Center including supervision of staff and students.
Develop and oversee the departmental budget recruitment and retention strategies and veteran student communication flow.
Lead assessment of veteran data track outcomes and manage documentation for state and federal audits.
Ensure adherence to federal laws governing VA educational benefits and explain related requirements to students families and campus partners.
Collaborate with campus offices to enhance veteran support and develop events highlighting military and veteran students.
Engage in community outreach efforts including occasional travel to conferences and events.
FLSA: ExemptMinimum Acceptable Qualifications
Bachelor s degree
2 years supervisory experience
5 years experience assisting veterans with educational benefits
The successful candidate must be an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces (active duty National Guard or Reserve Component) or a current member of the National Guard or Reserve serving in a drilling (non-active duty) status.*
*Documentation must be provided in the form of a DD 214 NGB 22 DD 256 current service orders or comparable separation document.

Masters degree
Proven written and oral communication skills
Ability to independently develop and organize data and reports that address management issues
Demonstrated positive work ethic
Interpersonal and counseling skills; sills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds
Organization and time management skills
Problem solve complex issues and problem solve independently

Illinois Residency Requirement:Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Drivers License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days is grounds for immediate separation.
