The Opportunity
Are you a safety-conscious compliance minded professional with a strong background in laboratory operations We are seeking a Resources and Infrastructure Compliance Manager to support the Schools strategic and operational goals by ensuring a safe compliant and well-managed environment across research and teaching laboratories shared spaces and offices.
This role requires expert-level knowledge including OHS/HWB regulatory compliance and laboratory infrastructure as well as the ability to coordinate complex projects and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. You will work collaboratively with laboratory staff School and Faculty leadership University OHS representatives Buildings and Property Division and external service providers to maintain high standards of safety functionality and compliance across our facilities. You will also represent the School on relevant safety and infrastructure committees.
As the successful candidate you will:
Act as the Secretary to the Schools Animal Ethics Committee
Act as the Chair to the Schools OHS/HWB Committee and provide expert advice on laboratory and fieldtrip safety and compliance with relevant legislation and university policies
Act as the Schools Safety Officer and lead safety audits risk assessments incident investigations and corrective action planning across teaching and research environments
Act as the Schools First Aid and Fieldwork Coordinator
You will coordinate timing assess impact consult with staff and ensure safety protocols and communications are in place for a range of projects involving HVAC water gas electrical systems fire protection network services cleaning and hazardous materials handling
Provide assistance to laboratory staff seeking safety advice
Oversee Biology-specific services not managed by central facilities including chemical waste disposal contracts.
Contribute to the development and implementation of the Schools risk management plans supporting emergency preparedness and business continuity
Maintain technical safety documentation including SOPs risk registers chemical inventories and compliance records
