| Job Description: | The Department of Astronomy at the University of Florida College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a position at the rank of Lecturer to begin August 16th 2026. This is a full time nine-month non-tenure-accruing position renewable on a yearly basis. For full consideration applications must be received by Dec. 17th 2025. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Astronomy Astrophysics Physics or a closely related field and demonstrate teaching experience and a commitment to teaching excellence. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a full benefits package. The Department of Astronomy is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their teaching and service to the excellence of the academic community at the University of Florida. The successful candidate will teach a combination of introductory and upper-level courses with a teaching load of three courses in the Fall and three courses in the Spring semester. An important goal of this position will be to support and expand experiential learning in the department curriculum at all levels. Examples of experiential learning could include but are not limited to telescope site visits direct research participation and/or development of internship programs. The University of Florida has facilities for hands-on learning including the Campus Teaching Observatory Rosemary Hill Observatory instrumentation laboratories and the HiPerGator computer cluster among others. The department is committed to participate in both the CLAS Beyond 120 ( and UF Quest ( initiatives. The successful applicant will also gain access to UFs world-class research facilities and telescopes ( including the 10.4-m Gran Telescopio Canarias in Spain the Dharma survey telescope in Arizona and the MINERVA Australis exoplanet RV array. UF is home to HiPerGator one of the most powerful high-performance computers at a US public university ( The successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate in and contribute to UFs newly founded Astraeus Space Institute which supports space-based research across many disciplines.
