About NAAFLS

The North Australian Aboriginal Family Legal Service (NAAFLS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled Family Violence Prevention Legal Service supporting 40 remote Aboriginal communities across the Top End of the NT. We deliver trauma-informed practical community-based solutions and offer a mission-driven culturally safe work environment.

About the role

Reporting to the HR Manager the HR Officer manages HR administration and projects across the employee lifecycle including recruitment onboarding induction training and performance reviews. You will oversee the HR inbox and Employment Hero platform ensuring accurate records compliance and timely responses.

Were seeking an HR Officer who combines strong HR expertise with a positive proactive and team-oriented approach. Youll work remotely manage priorities independently and engage respectfully with stakeholders including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • HR administration experience (recruitment onboarding records compliance)
  • HRIS proficiency (Employment Hero preferred)
  • Strong organisational communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work remotely and independently
  • Experience engaging respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff
  • Experience in not-for-profit or Aboriginal organisations
  • WWCC and satisfactory Criminal History Check

Desirable

  • HR qualifications (Certificate IV or higher)
  • Experience preparing HR reports and contributing to HR projects
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice
