Job Summary

The Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of stroke and cerebrovascular disease with successful completion of an ACGME-certified fellowship in Vascular Neurology. Applicants must have an M.D. degree and be board certified in Neurology. Board certification or board-eligible in Vascular Neurology is required. The Department of Neurology shares an academic partnership with Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). A co-appointment with CHOP may be possible for selected candidates who also have appropriate training and background in pediatric neurology. If co-appointed with CHOP a board certification in Pediatrics and/or Child Neurology is also required.

Teaching responsibilities may include the teaching of medical students residents and fellows as well as formal lecture opportunities within the department.

Clinical responsibilities may include attending on the stroke inpatient and consult services at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and telestroke/call service across the health system with possibly additional service at affiliated hospitals if needed in proportion to clinical effort and as shared with other members of the division. When not on service the new faculty member will do outpatient sessions commensurate with effort. For applicable candidates clinical duties may be assigned at CHOP.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include collaborative scientific inquiry related to stroke and other cerebrovascular disorders and participation in clinical trials. Interest in stroke across lifespan (pediatric to adult) is highly desired.
