We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to lead legal support across our Asia Pacific mining operations and global corporate functions. This is a strategic role offering exposure to high-value transactions regulatory compliance and operational legal advisory.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice across procurement sustainability data privacy employment compensation and cybersecurity.
- Anticipate legal risks and deliver clear commercially focused guidance to senior stakeholders.
- Support major corporate transactions including investments acquisitions and securities offerings.
- Advise on corporate governance and ensure compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks.
- Oversee Asia Pacific corporate filings and maintain legal registers.
- Deliver legal training and support to internal teams across the region.
- Manage external legal counsel relationships and monitor service quality and cost.
- Uphold safety standards and contribute to a culture of compliance and care.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent (minimum requirement)
- Licensed to practice law in an Australian state or territory
Experience & Capabilities
- 1015 years of legal experience in private practice and/or in-house roles
- Mining industry experience preferred with a strong understanding of sector-specific legal and commercial considerations
- Extensive experience in negotiating and drafting commercial contracts and managing complex transactions
- Proven ability to develop and implement legal policies and interpret complex legal concepts
- Skilled in delivering timely practical legal and business advice across all levels of an organisation
- Commercially focused problem-solver with sound judgment and strategic thinking
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain legal considerations to non-legal stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to influence and build trusted relationships across diverse teams
- Collaborative mindset with a track record of working effectively to achieve shared business goals
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- High attention to detail and strong time management capabilities
