Job Title: School Bus Driver
Location: Richardson TX area (multiple school/bus-yard locations; primary dispatch sites include Buckingham Rd. and Greenville Ave.)
Overview We are recruiting full-time School Bus Drivers to transport students safely to and from school extracurriculars and field trips for a large independent school district in the Richardson TX area. This is a safety-first role - clear communication punctuality and a professional student-focused attitude are essential. This position is hired through our staffing firm and placed with a public school transportation department.
Key Responsibilities -
Operate school buses (standard 40-foot & activity buses) in a safe lawful and professional manner at all times.

Transport students on assigned routes to/from home and school extracurriculars and field trips adhering to published schedules and any route changes.

Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (tires lights brakes emergency equipment) and report any defects immediately.

Secure student passengers with appropriate safety procedures (seat belts where required wheelchair securement) and maintain orderly behavior on board.

Follow all federal/state/local regulations for pupil transportation including student pickup/drop-off protocols at bus stops and schools.

Load/unload students safely ensuring no student is left on the bus; visually inspect bus interior before leaving any site.

Maintain accurate records: daily logs mileage fuel use incident/accident reports and student conduct reports.

Communicate clearly and professionally with dispatch school administrators parents/guardians and supervisors.

Respond calmly to emergencies and follow established safety/emergency procedures (first aid evacuation contacting dispatch/EMS).

Attend mandatory training certification renewals and safety meetings as required by the district and state law.

Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with all district and legal privacy requirements.
Required Qualifications -
Valid CDL Class B (or higher) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements (or ability to obtain immediately upon hire).

Clean driving record - limited driving violations and no major infractions (will be verified).

Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience preferred; prior school bus experience a strong plus.

Comfortable driving in varying weather and traffic conditions.
-
Ability to pass a DOT physical exam pre-employment drug test and periodic random drug tests.

Must pass background checks including criminal history and child abuse/sex offender registry checks per school district requirements.

Excellent interpersonal skills; patient and compassionate when working with children and families.

Able to read maps follow GPS/route directions and use basic electronic logging and communication devices.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Preferred Qualifications -
Prior experience with special-needs routes and wheelchair securement systems.

Familiarity with local school pick-up/drop-off protocols and campus traffic patterns.

Bilingual (Spanish/English) is an advantage for communication with families.
Physical Requirements -
Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.

Frequent entering/exiting the vehicle bending lifting up to 50 lbs (e.g. assisting with bags/wheelchairs when required).

Good hearing and vision (corrective lenses acceptable).
Schedule & Locations -
Typical schedule: Morning and afternoon routes Monday Friday (hours vary based on routes; early start times required).

Overtime and occasional weekend or evening work for events/field trips may be required.

Drivers may be assigned to any bus yard or school location within the district; flexibility to work from various dispatch sites (examples: Buckingham Rd. and S. Greenville Ave.) is required.
