About the role:
Reporting to theLead Groundwater Projects the Coordinator Field Program is responsible for coordinating and project management of field programs to support ongoing drilling monitoring and compliance for regional and site-specific groundwater monitoring programs.
To be successful we are looking for someone who is detail-oriented and has strong organizational and time management skills. They will have a strong sense of ownership be adaptable and can prioritize tasks and work independently. The candidate will leverage communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong relationships within a team-based environment. The successful candidate will possess scientific knowledge technical skills and environmental project management experience.

In this role you will:

    • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
    • Supervision oversight and execution of hydrogeological assessments and field programs to characterize groundwater and surface water at/near mine sites and more broadly in the Elk Valley; including drilling well design and construction surface water-groundwater interactions investigations and site inspections
    • Conduct coordinate and supervise groundwater sampling and monitoring programs to confirm regulatory compliance and support the implementation of the Elk Valley Water Quality Plan
    • Project management of hydrogeological field programs and desktop investigations to better understand both the local and regional-scale hydrogeology of the Elk Valley. This will include cost tracking schedule development and performance tracking contract management and program coordination
    • Collaboration and coordination with a variety of technical and site operational teams in order to progress program deliverables support site environmental objectives and inform water quality related management decisions
    • Provide technical administrative and project management support as well as supervision of environmental technicians consultants and contractors
    • Carry out environmental data compilation and review curation of scientifically defensible environmental datasets program data QAQC and drafting of technical reports memos and communications
    • Adherence to environmental procedures and standardized protocols including Health Environment Safety and Community (HSEC) and Environmental Protection Work Plans

Requirements:

    • Diploma or Degree in Earth Environmental or Geological Sciences Hydrogeology Water Resource Engineering or similar program
    • Minimum three years of experience in environmental compliance water resource management groundwater monitoring/sampling and characterization
    • General understanding of hydrology and hydrogeology groundwater data evaluation and technical report writing
    • Strong fieldwork background including competency with groundwater sampling and monitoring hydraulic conductivity testing groundwater well design and lithologic logging
    • Experience in designing and executing hydrogeological field programs
    • Experience managing factual and investigative reports to meet regulatory and other commitments presenting technical information to a variety of audiences
    • Knowledge of environmental data management programs: EQuIS ArcGIS Pro or related software
    • Knowledge of relevant environmental and waste legislation including the British Columbia Water Protection Act standards permits and industry best practices
    • General knowledge of water chemistry
    • Experience supervising technicians consultants and contractors
    • Ability to work independently and efficiently with nominal supervision in remote locations and inclement weather conditions
    • Valid Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent
$94000 - $116000 a year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidates relevant experience skills and competencies and considers internal equity.
