Job Summary

Spartanburg Methodist College (SMC) is seeking a skilled and collaborative IT professional to join our team as a Part-Time Systems and Network Project Administrator.

In this role you will work closely with IT leadership to support projects and operations involving the Colleges systems network infrastructure and cloud platforms.

This position blends technical expertise with project coordination providing vital support across ongoing initiatives in systems networking Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Coordination & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with IT leadership to plan execute and monitor technology projects related to systems network and cloud infrastructure.

  • Track project progress assist in documentation and ensure timelines and deliverables are met.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders vendors and service providers as needed.

  • Contribute to process improvement and the development of IT best practices.

Systems Support

  • Assist in maintaining and monitoring servers storage and virtualized environments.

  • Provide support for Microsoft 365 administration Azure AD and related identity and access management functions.

  • Help maintain system backups updates and configuration documentation.

  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to system performance and accessibility.

Network Support

  • Provide hands-on assistance with campus network maintenance including monitoring configuration updates and performance checks.

  • Support the administration of switches firewalls wireless access points and other network hardware in collaboration with the IT Network Manager.

  • Help identify and remediate network issues to when needed.

  • Contribute to maintaining network security and documentation.

General IT Operations

  • Participate in planning sessions for infrastructure upgrades integrations and security initiatives.

  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies relevant to higher education IT environments.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

  • 35 years of experience supporting IT systems and/or network environments.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Azure and Windows Server environments.

  • Experience with networking concepts (routing VLANs firewalls wireless systems).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills comfortable working as part of a small focused team.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and manage projects effectively.

  • Analytical mindset and strong troubleshooting abilities.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational habits.

  • A proactive learner who enjoys supporting technical initiatives and process improvements.

About the College: Founded in 1911 Spartanburg Methodist College is a private residential liberal arts institution serving a diverse student population within the United Methodist Connection. Since its founding as the first co-op school in the nation SMC has remained dedicated to its mission to connect education and employment. After over 100 years as an Associate Degree granting institution the college launched its first bachelors degree in 2019. SMC is growing significantly adding new programs and consistently evaluating operations because of a campus-wide commitment to innovation and a passion for designing all campus programs to serve its student population intentionally. Today the colleges emphasis on education and employment includes a unique professional development concentration comprised of eight required courses for students seeking associate and bachelors degrees.   • Part-time position (approximately 1520 hours per week).

  • Preferred schedule: Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays.

  • Fridays are shorter workdays as the College closes at 1:00 PM.
