About the Role

We are looking for a Product Development Engineer who will be responsible for providing an innovative approach in the development of food packaging and processing machinery and systems while ensuring optimum customer service and satisfaction.

You will be reporting to the Product Development Manager - and be based in Melbourne at our Hallam site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop machinery to meet performance operational and cost specifications. Development includes assembly commissioning testing & ongoing refinement.
  • Liaise with and establish excellent relationships with colleagues suppliers and internal departments.
  • Continually identify implement monitor and update processes & practices to ensure a high standard of consistency with design philosophies.
  • Generate designs and drawings that are of optimum quality. Consider all upstream and downstream effects on the business internal customers and end users.
  • Manage design projects ensuring all milestones are met as per the schedule.
  • Assist with and provide high level support to the customer and the team.
  • Work closely with all departments ensuring you are a key team member in transitioning new designs through documentation prototyping timely production and testing.
  • Make decisions within TNAs philosophies and guidelines and communicate them clearly and in a timely manner.
  • Update personal technical and industry knowledge as necessary.
  • Travel to both customer and TNA sites to support and develop equipment and solutions.

Desired Knowledge Skills and Experience

  • Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years design experience with some autonomy in special purpose machine design or manufacturing related field (provide examples)
  • Exposure to the manufacturing industry (specifically food & beverage or packaging) is advantageous.
  • Experience with 3D modelling systems.
  • Sheet metal design desirable but not mandatory
  • Hand on experience and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to produce documentation of a level suitable for manufacturing & installation personnel.
  • Logical pragmatic and able to think outside the box.
  • Maintain confidentiality at ALL times.
  • Ability to develop build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Able to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • High level of English language proficiency both written and verbal
