Nearmap is seeking a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to join our innovative Capture Systems team. Work at the intersection of embedded systems and aerial imaging technology developing real-time solutions that power our next-generation capture systems. Youll contribute across the full embedded systems lifecycle- from R&D through to production and manufacturing.
Work on sophisticated embedded systems that power our aerial imagery capture platforms used worldwide. Youll be integral to developing real-time solutions for current and future capture system components contributing across the entire lifecycle from initial R&D through qualification production and manufacturing. This is a rare opportunity to work on complex mechatronic systems where precision and reliability are critical.
What Youll Be Working On
- Real-Time Embedded Systems: Specify develop document and qualify embedded systems solutions for aerial capture platforms with a focus on bare-metal development and deterministic performance
- High-Precision Motor Control: Research develop and qualify advanced motor control solutions that demand ultra-high precision for aerial imagery capture systems
- Hardware-Software Integration: Interface embedded software with sophisticated electronic hardware systems ensuring seamless operation in real-world aerial environments
- Verification & Validation: Develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies both cross-platform and on target hardware to ensure system reliability and performance
- Control Systems Development: Design and implement linear and non-linear feedback controllers for electro-mechanical applications combining theoretical modelling with practical implementation
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with multi-disciplinary Technology and Capture Systems teams contributing to knowledge sharing and driving innovation across the organisation

Qualifications :
Essential:
- 5 years embedded systems engineering experience with bare-metal development focus
- Real-time/deterministic software development expertise
- Hardware-software interfacing and embedded verification/validation experience
- Strong algorithmic development skills for mechatronic control systems
- Experience with feedback controller design and implementation for electro-mechanical applications
- Bachelors degree in Computer/Electronic/Electrical/Mechatronic Engineering or related field
Highly Regarded:
- 10 years embedded systems experience
- ARM Cortex-M7 architecture expertise
- Ultra high-precision mechatronic systems background
- Control systems theory and practical implementation experience
