Job Summary: | Department of Pediatrics Section of Genetics & Metabolism has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Instructor - Genetic Counselor position. For more information visit . This position provides genetic counseling services for clinical patients with or at risk of genetically determined diseases. We serve the population of the State of Colorado and parts or all surrounding states. It is associated with Childrens Hospital Colorado but also serves the University of Colorado Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus as well as several affiliated community hospitals throughout the State. The individual hired in this position is responsible to the Genetics & Metabolism Section Head and if providing clinical service in another Section of the Department of Pediatrics the clinical leadership of the Section in which care is provided. The individual will work collaboratively with other faculty and genetics and metabolic team members. The successful candidate will join >22 genetic counselors providing care in Childrens Hospital Colorado and will work closely with many physicians and other healthcare professionals in the clinical setting. This position will primarily support the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and the Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center. GCs may move internally depending on clinical need so the focus of this position could shift to provide GC services in another section depending on need at the time of hiring. The successful candidate will know the primary focus of their work at the time of the offer of a position. Qualifications: | Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Graduated from an accredited genetic counseling program ABGC board certified or Board eligible with board certification attained within 10 months of graduation Condition of Employment: Must successfully pass a drug test through Childrens Hospital Colorado Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check *For questions regarding Childrens Hospital drug testing requirements please contact Childrens Human Resources at . Preferred Qualifications: ABGC Board Certified with one-year relevant experience Pediatric practice experience Experience in one or more specialty clinics Experience in Hematology Blood Disorders and Cancer Active involvement with the departments genetic counseling students. Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of standard inpatient and outpatient clinical operations and procedures. Ability to develop and present educational information to patients as well as to professionals.
