About this Position

Applications are invited for a DOE-supported postdoctoral position to study the assembly and function of photosynthetic complexes. The work combines state-of-the-art molecular genetic biochemical and biophysical approaches to clarify basic photosynthetic mechanisms using a cyanobacterial model organism that is amenable to genetic engineering to test basic photosynthetic mechanisms at the cellular and molecular level.

The successful candidate will join a small dynamic research group with strengths in molecular genetics genetic transformation and biochemistry. The P.I. is dedicated to providing laboratory members with a nurturing training environment. Training will be provided in areas of photosynthetic physiology analysis using techniques such as chlorophyll fluorescence and polarography to characterize genetic constructs. Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry Molecular Genetics Plant Biology or a related field and a strong background in molecular biology and/or protein biochemistry. The ideal candidate is expected to be highly motivated and hard-working. Creative individuals having potential to perform independent published research will be given preference.
