The Vice President for Inclusion established this Fellowship to provide a meaningful and challenging opportunity for individuals considering a career in higher education and student affairs. The Fellow will gain immersive experience working directly with students contributing to campus-wide diversity initiatives and learning the inner workings of a dynamic Inclusion office in a liberal arts setting.
Lafayette Colleges Division of Inclusion is committed to advancing academic cultural social and social justice engagement opportunities for the entire student body. The Office of Intercultural Development (OID) specifically fosters a welcoming environment for students from diverse backgrounds by providing support community-building and programming that champions inclusion and equity.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director of Intercultural Development the OID Fellow will play an integral role in supporting the holistic development of students. The Fellow will engage fully with students advising mentoring and challenging them to become inclusive leaderswhile also contributing to the operational excellence of the office through program coordination budget management and administrative support.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement co-curricular programs that promote student leadership cultural identity and inclusive excellence.
Serve as a mentor and advisor to student leaders and cultural/affinity-based student organizations.
Actively engage with students through individual support group facilitation and community-building efforts.
Assist in advising the Multicultural and Identity-Based Student Leadership Council helping students grow as change agents on campus.
Lead and support the planning and execution of large-scale mission-aligned events (e.g. Welcome Week Cultural Heritage & Identity Months Orientation Open Houses).
Collaborate with students and campus partners to organize workshops dialogues and trainings that deepen cultural awareness and promote social justice.
Support the management of the office budget and assist with processing financial transactions office orders and vendor relations in coordination with the Executive Director.
Maintain and enhance the offices digital presence including content for the OID website and social media platforms.
Represent OID on committees or working groups as needed and assist in day-to-day administrative operations.
Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the overall growth and visibility of the Division of Inclusion.
Perform other duties as assigned.
