Job Summary
Certs required: BLS NRP Skills: Labor and Delivery LDRP Mother/Baby Sterile vaginal exam Triage of obstetrical patients Diabetes mellitus Pre-eclampsia / eclampsia Premature Rupture of Membranes Use of External Fetal Monitoring Recognition and Treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns Administration of blood & blood products Start & maintain peripheral IV Use of infusion pumps / drips / IV monitoring Antihypertensives Assist with vaginal delivery Discharge teaching to parents Newborn Assessment Teach Circumcision care to parents Epidural Anesthesia Opioids Pain assessment & management Foley Catheter insertion Fundus/lochia/perineum care Vaginal Delivery Cesarean Section Isolation Precautions/PPE Patient Diagnosis: Our OB unit is LDRP where all RNs are cross trained for L&D postpartum and newborn patients. Special Procedures/Unit Details: 50 on the average births/month Documentation system: Meditech/IntelliSpace Perinatal Medication System: Pyxis Communication: SBAR Patient Age Group: Neonates Infants Adults Rooms: 8 Local Accepted: N (must be > 50 miles) Every other weekend required 2 years of experience required Unit does not accept 1st time travelers NY License must be in hand Scrubs: Provided
