What youll do

Responsibilities

As the Contracts & Grant Services Lead you will lead NSCCs end-to-end pre-award process -from identifying and prioritizing funding opportunities to developing and submitting high-quality proposals and negotiating research agreements. Youll help shape how NSCC attracts and manages research and innovation funding ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and funder expectations.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the full lifecycle of pre-award activities coordinating proposal development budgets partner engagement and submissions to ensure timely high-quality applications.
  • Build and manage a proactive funding pipeline by monitoring government and industry opportunities to support growth and long-term sustainability.
  • Provide expert guidance to researchers and senior leadership fostering collaboration across NSCCs campuses and divisions.
  • Oversee the development and negotiation of research agreements ensuring compliance with funder guidelines institutional policies and partner expectations.
  • Collaborate across departments including Central Finance Facilities and Research Innovation and Workforce Development to ensure smooth transitions between award phases.
  • Establish systems tools and metrics that strengthen proposal quality efficiency and success rates while supporting data-informed decision-making.
  • Deliver training and mentorship to build internal capacity in proposal writing budgeting and compliance.
  • Track performance and outcomes analyze funding success rates and prepare reports that inform future strategy.
  • Foster a culture of excellence and collaboration ensuring NSCC remains a trusted high-performing partner in research and innovation.

This is a new and evolving role within NSCCs Contracts & Grants Services team. Youll have the unique opportunity to design and refine systems processes and tools that shape how the College manages research funding. Success in this role requires innovation self-motivation and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment where new ideas are encouraged and collaboration is key.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is Undergraduate degree in Business Administration Public Administration Communications Legal finance or related field.
  • A Masters degree would be considered an asset .
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of recent and related occupational experience in research administration grant writing or funding program management.
  • You have specific experience in managing the full lifecycle of grant applications from identifying opportunities and leading proposal development to negotiating agreements and ensuring compliance.
  • Proven experience in project management including coordinating cross-functional teams and holding stakeholders accountable for deliverables.
  • Experience in developing and implementing processes systems or tools that improve efficiency compliance and success rates in funding applications
  • Experience with large-scale institutional funding applications (e.g. CFI) preferred.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite E-mail Sharepoint Teams and Co-pilot).
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
