Library Clerk Essential Job Responsibilities
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred
Experience working with children or in a school setting is preferred.
Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic technology and data entry skills; familiarity with library or inventory software preferred.
Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a positive student-centered environment.
General Duties (All Levels):
- Assist students and staff in locating selecting and checking out library materials.
- Operate the library management system for circulation inventory and record keeping.
- Maintain an organized clean and inviting library environment.
- Process label and repair books and other materials for circulation.
- Prepare book displays bulletin boards and seasonal library activities to promote reading.
- Maintain accurate circulation and inventory records; manage overdue materials and notices.
- Oversee textbook distribution collection and inventory in coordination with teachers and administration.
- Assist staff with the scheduling of library facilities for classes meetings or special events.
- Supervise students during library visits to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Support building literacy initiatives and collaborate with teachers to align library resources with classroom instruction.
- Assist with technology-related tasks such as student logins basic troubleshooting or digital database use.
- Support special literacy events such as book fairs reading challenges or author visits.
