KCRG-TV9 is the most-watched and most-trusted news outlet covering Eastern Iowa. We produce 7 hours of news each day support a robust social media and digital platform and carry dozens of live sports and community events a year with our live production unit.
Job Summary/Description:
The Production Coordinator has the general responsibility of leading the production crew for our various live event productions while also working as a member of the production team. The Production Coordinator hires schedules and trains all freelancers assists in live productions tracks invoices for crew payment and operates within budget guidelines. Regular assignments will involve the production of various live events and other station productions.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Lead production crew for various live events while also working as a member of the production team
* Hire schedule and train all freelancers on proper use of equipment
* Assist in live event productions including setup and teardown
* Conduct site surveys in advance of live events as necessary
* Track invoices to ensure crew payment in a timely manner
* Order supplies when needed while staying within budget
* May need to fill in as Technical Media Producer which includes directing live and pre-recorded productions as assigned and monitoring all on-air streams for KCRG and KYOU
* Require skill with production video switcher master control video switcher production and master control automation graphics and all supporting equipment in Production/Master Control
* Understanding of FCC logs and broadcast regulations
* Understanding of all equipment in the studio and production areas
* Variable work schedule including nights weekends and holidays
* Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
* Degree in Communications or a related field or equivalent job experience
* Great communication and people skills
* Newscast or live events directing/Master Control experience or production assistant experience in a system nearly identical to KCRGs.
* Operating knowledge of PCs and graphics computers
* Understanding of FCC broadcast regulations
* Required to sit and stand for long periods of time
* Required to pass annual Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check
* Ability to pass Commercial Drivers License (CDL) requirements
* Ability to carry moderately heavy equipment up to approximately 50 pounds
* Ability to work in potentially extreme weather conditions (heat or cold)
* Ability to work in an environment with fluctuating noise and light levels
* Ability to climb a ladder
