The School of Engineering and Technology (SET) at the University of Washington Tacoma (UWT) invites applications for one tenure-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Information Technology (IT). This is a full-time (100% FTE) position with a nine-month service period with an expected start date of September 16 2026. The initial appointment is for a three-year period renewable upon successful academic review.
Responsibilities
All tenure-track faculty at the UW engage in research teaching and service. Successful candidates will be expected to pursue a rigorous research agenda and teach classes at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in Information Technology. Successful candidates will be expected to teach in a variety of modalities including online hybrid and/or in-person in the context of an urban-serving university campus. The expected teaching load for this position six courses (or equivalent) per academic year. Successful candidates will also participate in service to the university and profession and will be expected to contribute substantially toward creating a diverse and inclusive community of faculty staff and students.
Positive factors for consideration include but are not limited to: research teaching or industry experience in a relevant field; demonstrated cross-disciplinary expertise in research and teaching; and research foci in AI in Information Technology AI in Cyber Security Cloud Computing Applications and/or Internet of Things.
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $12667 to $13000 per month ($114003 to $117000 annually per 9-month academic year) commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include a one-time relocation allowance and startup professional development package.
