The Team
As a Child Protection Worker on the Youth Outreach and Empowerment Team (YOET) you will join a passionate group of professionals working with youth and their families. The young people we serve often are facing complex challenges - including substance abuse severe mental health issues sexual exploitation and connection to gangs. This South Fraser team (YOET) works closely as a team and with community organizations as well mental health professionals Schools Police and Elders. We focus on relationship building supporting parents and youth and strengthening connection to community.
Our team includes five child protection workers one ROOTS worker a social work assistant one and a half youth advisors and a dedicated Team Leader. Together we collaborate closely with a wide range of professionals including mental health and community organizations to improve the wellbeing and reduce the risk of harm of indigenous and non-Indigenous youth.
The Role
In this role you will work with high-risk youth in stressful and complex situations handling crises and emotionally charged cases arising from youth protection needs. Your work will support some of the most vulnerable children in B.C. who face a range of challenges. This position offers the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of thousands of children and families providing essential support and care.

About this Position:
This position is based in Surrey and requires coverage to all locations listed above (Surrey Deta Langley and White Rock).

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
