About the Role

As a Keyworker you will be working in the Blaby Oadby & Wigston Targeted Family Help team working with children and their families with complex needs you will also be working alongside social care colleagues supporting families to achieve goals in their Child In Need plan. You will need to be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle and be able to work flexibly out of the normal 9 to 5 day. You will be working in a fast-paced environment with a supportive team around you. Part of this role also includes supporting local events in our Family Hubs and in the community engaging with Children their Families and other agencies we may work in partnership with.

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.

About You

  • Level3qualificationinarelevant subjecte.g. social care health or childcareORsubstantial experience in providing direct support to families that clearly demonstrates a broad level of experience skills competencies and knowledge.
  • Experience of providing direct support in the home to children and families with complex needs which may include mental health offending substance misuse domestic violence and abuse and/or educational issues.
  • Experience of carrying out assessments support planning formulating action plans and reporting outcomes.
  • Experience of working with partners and of coordinating agency responses in complex cases to achieve positive outcomes for families with complex needs.
  • An understanding of the impact of discrimination on the lives of those from minority ethnic communities and others who experience social exclusion and an ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Awareness and understanding of good enough parenting and relationship between poverty and social deprivation and to be able to hold a compassionate position but still hold protection of children as the priority. Be able to recognise cumulative harm and risk indicators of different forms of harm sexual physical emotional and neglect.
  • Ability to build professional confidence and resilience good working relationships with families ability to overcome barriers to them engaging recognising reasons for resistance to change where tensions can exist. Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with children and adults focusing on hearing and capturing the childs voice.

You must also have an understanding of and commitment toequality diversity and inclusion.

In addition we also expect you to shareour commitment to our valuesand will ask you to evidence when you have demonstrated them as part of the selection process.
