We are urgently seeking a Staff Nurse Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) for our hospital in Westmeath Ireland.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality evidence-based nursing care in line with NMBI standards and CMPH policies.
Assess treat and evaluate patients presenting with minor injuries including acute wounds musculoskeletal injuries and soft tissue trauma.
Provide effective triage and prioritisation of patients based on clinical need.
Demonstrate competence in application care and removal of casts and splints providing patient and family education on aftercare.
Manage medical emergencies appropriately escalating to A&E or involving other clinical specialists as required.
Administer medications and treatments safely maintaining accurate clinical documentation and communicating with relevant healthcare professionals.
Adhere to hospital policies procedures and clinical guidelines participating in audits quality initiatives and risk management activities.
Promote effective communication and collaboration within the multidisciplinary team and with patients and families.
Maintain ongoing professional competence through continuing education skills-based training reflective practice and professional development portfolios.
Requirements
Registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by the NMBI.
Minimum of one years recent post-registration experience (full-time or equivalent) in an acute hospital setting.
Completion of or currently pursuing a recognised post-registration qualification (e.g. Higher Diploma or Postgraduate course in Nursing) is desirable.
Up-to-date Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification completed or in progress.
Demonstrated clinical competence including risk management and clinical audit skills.
Excellent interpersonal communication and organisational abilities.
Proficient in information technology and electronic documentation systems.
Submission of current Professional Registration (PIN) to HR each January.
