What you Will Be Doing:

• Develops scopes bids administers and tracks a variety of M&O support contracts including supply construction and professional services funded through multiple sources.
• Prepares and seals detailed plans specifications and estimates for highway aviation and facility projects; manages contract support and design services for Maintenance and Operations.
• Provides field administration and inspection oversight for contracts ensuring compliance with plans specifications and safety standardsmay require travel to remote sites by vehicle boat or small aircraft.
• Coordinates with utilities Right-of-Way environmental and public stakeholders to support project delivery and compliance with federal and state program requirements.
• Serves as primary M&O contact for AASHTOware and related program tracking; assists with seasonal weight restrictions emergency response documentation and funding program administration (FHWA FAA FEMA State).

• Civil Engineering: Knowledge of the concepts principles theories and methods required to plan design construct operate and maintain facilities such as buildings transportation systems water and sanitary systems and other public works systems.
• Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and to make recommendations.
• Project Management:Knowledge of the principles methods or tools for developing scheduling coordinating and managing projects and resources including monitoring and inspecting costs work and contractor performance.

Engineer/Architect 1
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect.

Note: Positions in this class require professional registration as either an Engineer or an Architect. The employer will designate which professional field is required for each position.

Special Note:
Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
