An exciting opportunity has arisen for a respiratory physiologist/trainee respiratory physiologist to join the Respiratory Physiology Department at Queen Alexandra Hospital Portsmouth.
The Respiratory Physiology Department is intimately involved in delivering diagnostic testing as part of the national Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) Project and this post is designed to support this project.
We are a multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors nurses physiologists polysomnographers technicians and clerical staff and are looking to recruit a qualified or trainee respiratory physiologist to join the Respiratory Physiology Department.
The Respiratory physiology team offer a comprehensive range of pulmonary function and exercise tests including Spirometry gas transfer lung volumes allergy testing challenge testing and cardiopulmonary exercise testing.
The role will involve working as an independent practitioner in a variety of testing modalities and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings as well as engaging in team audits and education.
If you do not possess the required professional qualifications then the successful candidate should be willing to undertake in-house or external training as appropriate.
Job Summary
- To provide specialist care as part of the multi-disciplinary respiratory physiology team
- To work as an autonomous practitioner involved in the diagnosis of patients with a wide variety of respiratory and associated conditions
- As an autonomous practitioner provide a point of contact for these patients as well as their carers and other health care professionals to obtain advice education and support.
- You must be able to work independently (to protocols) be flexible and adaptable in your attitude to work and enjoy being part of a very busy service where you can demonstrate your initiative and reliability.

Qualifications :
Appropriate qualification(s) in respiratory diagnostic testing including:
- BS(c) Hons in Healthcare Science Specialising in Respiratory Physiology obtained as part of the Practitioner Training Pathway (PTP)
- BS(c) Hons in Clinical Physiology or equivalent with a specialism in respiratory physiology.
- ARTP Associate/Practitioner professional qualification in pulmonary function testing
- Graduate Diploma in Respiratory Science
