The Chattanooga Zoo is looking for an inspiring Volunteer Coordinator with a passion for working with youth volunteers and animals.
This position is responsible for supporting the volunteer programs at the zoo. This role will involve managing various volunteer programs providing assistance to volunteers coordinating volunteer activities and contributing to recruitment and appreciation events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS will include the recruitment training scheduling guidance support and supervision of volunteers for all programs and special events. The position will manage various programs and events including: ZooTeen Youth / Family Program Volunteer Appreciation Awareness Days and Special Events. Monthly ZooLetters to volunteers maintaining the Volunteer database networking and promotion are also critical responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in business management nonprofit administration social work or guest experiences related field
- Previous experience in volunteer management and/or coordination preferred
- Previous database management experience preferred
- Bilingual English & Spanish preferred
- Any combination of equivalent education and experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the position will be considered
Competencies
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams diverse groups of volunteers and staff
- Proficiency in Google Suites and database management software or exposure with the ability to learn
- Ability to network and develop relationships with new community partners
- Ability to use creativity and innovation to develop unique programs and events
- Advanced organizational communication and decision-making skills
Licensing & Certifications
Physical Requirements
Light: Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a
negligible amount of force to constantly move objects. This position requires sitting or standing for long
periods of time but also may require movement across Zoo grounds
Physical Environment: This position is generally required to perform work within an office setting and occasionally exposed to
external elements which include heat/cold wet/humid dry/arid and extreme weather conditions.
