Part-Time High-School Physical Education Instructor

Seeking a part-time Physical Education instructor beginning immediately at Liberty Common High School in Fort Collins Colorado a Poudre School District charter school dedicated to a classically-oriented college-preparatory education. The High School campus has approximately 340 students in grades 9-12.

LCHS provides excellence and fairness in education by teaching a contextual body of organized knowledge the skills of learning and the values of a democratic society. This is done through parental choice partnership with teachers and student acceptance of responsibility for his/her academic effort.

The physical education instructor has responsibility for program planning curriculum development and delivery of physical education and health instruction for high-school students in cooperation with the schools existing Physical Education Department. Applicants should be dedicated to a strong skills and knowledge-based curriculum and dedicated to high student achievement. The position also involves sections of Personal Finance.

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Salary Exempt

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular Part-time

WORK HOURS: 20 hours per week

COMPENSATION: $ annually (possibly higher based on background experience and/or institutional alignment).

REPORTS TO: Principal

REVISION DATE: October 2025

Minimum Requirements:

• Desire and willingness to learn about Libertys history and philosophy and to uphold and promote the mission and values of the school including a commitment to classical education and a rigorous physical education curriculum.
• BS in physical education exercise and sport science or related discipline or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Content knowledge is essential.
• Ability to sit and stand (conducive to an office environment) for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and move loads of up to 30 pounds over short distances.
• Demonstrated effective classroom teaching ability and content expertise.
• Willingness to teach the personal finance course.

Preferred Characteristics:

• Understanding of Liberty Common Schools history and a commitment to maintaining and promoting the schools mission and values.
• Experience with physical education instruction classical education and demonstrated ability in teaching this curriculum.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multiple teams.
• MS or PhD in physical education exercise and sport science or related discipline or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• Experience or background in athletics coaching or fitness and weight training.
• Experience teaching personal finance or economics.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to maneuver uneven surfaces.
• Must be able to carry or transfer up to 20lbs of supplies frequently.
• Must be able to work in occasionally loud environments.
• Must be able to frequently use office technology including computers copiers and printers.
