TEACHER / INSTRUCTIONAL SPPORT /BEHAVIOR
JOB TITLE: Special Services Behavior Teacher
REPORTS TO: Campus Prinicial or Special Services Director
DEPARTMENT/CAMPUS: Indian Success Academy
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To direct and evaluate the learning experiences of Special Education students in activities assigned by the ARD Committee.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and related systems to support overall success of students.
Knowledge of Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation.
Ability to instruct students and utilize various behavior management techniques.
Monitor academic and social development of students within the regular/or special education settings.
Communication skills that would provide input to administrators teachers/lead teacher regarding student progress and program effectiveness.
Knowledge of district physical restraint and crisis intervention plan.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Strategies:
Student Growth and Development:
- Collaborate with classroom teacher who receive students in inclusive settings; interpret the abilities and disabilities of students to the school staff and assist the student with class assignments.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Be a positive role model for students support mission of the district.
Classroom Management and Organization:
- Assist other professional staff members in resolving the emotional and/or disciplinary problems of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook using proper district approved nonviolent crisis intervention process and procedures.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
- Track student progress in general education classrooms using district approved tracking management system.
- Analyze data and implement data-driven decision making for improvement efforts to support student progress using best practices.
- Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents required. Conducting case management duties according to Special Services policy and procedures.
Communication:
- Collaborate with students parents and other members of staff to develop IEP through ARD Committee process for each student assigned.
- Collaborate with related services personnel to ensure that services are an integrated part of the total program of the student.
- Communicate relevant progress concerning student progress with parents.
Personal Growth and Development:
- Acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to perform professional responsibilities.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Keep informed of and comply with state district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
General Duties:
- Maintain a safe environment.
- Exemplify high standards of ethical conduct.
- Display tolerance necessary for accepting supervision for and criticism of job performance.
- Work in harmony with supervisory faculty and peer personnel.
- Use professional information discreetly and judiciously.
- Support and follow administrative and board policy.
- Represent the school system to the community in a positive professional way.
- Maintain a sincere friendly attitude toward patrons.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal and/or Director of Special Education.

- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Frequent standingstooping bending kneeling pushing and pulling.
- Move media equipment desks and other classroom or adaptive equipment.
- May beto lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; andassistnon-ambulatory students.
- Exposed to biological hazards.
