Job Title: Software Development Application Subject Matter Expert (SW DEV APP SME)

Overview:
The Software Development Application Subject Matter Expert (SW DEV APP SME) is responsible for leading the design development and maintenance of complex software applications and database systems. This role ensures functional secure and efficient system operations through expert-level technical leadership design innovation and adherence to software engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Design & Development:
- Design develop test and maintain robust scalable and efficient application code.
- Develop new and maintain existing user interfaces ensuring usability and performance.
- Identify define and document the major components and interfaces of complex systems.
Systems Architecture & Integration:
- Map design elements to system requirements to ensure full traceability and compliance.
- Conduct design reviews to clarify design intent evaluate design drivers and optimize architectural decisions.
- Identify opportunities for reuse of existing systems and components to enhance efficiency and reduce redundancy.
- Assess integration challenges with legacy systems and propose effective solutions to ensure seamless interoperability.
Performance & Scalability:
- Evaluate portability capacity and performance implications of design decisions.
- Implement scalable design strategies to support long-term growth and system optimization.
Database Design & Management:
- Create logical and physical database designs using advanced data modeling and normalization techniques.
- Ensure data integrity consistency and security across application environments.
Technical Leadership & Quality Assurance:
- Provide expert guidance in software engineering best practices coding standards and architectural principles.
- Lead technical design reviews code reviews and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with project managers developers and stakeholders to ensure timely high-quality delivery.

Qualifications:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or related field.
7 years of professional software development experience including system design and integration.
Proven expertise in software architecture database design and performance optimization.
Strong proficiency in programming languages (e.g. Java C# Python or equivalent).
Experience with modern frameworks APIs and microservices architectures.
In-depth understanding of SDLC Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
Excellent problem-solving analytical and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with cloud-native development (AWS Azure or GCP).
Knowledge of containerization (Docker Kubernetes).
Familiarity with enterprise integration and data governance frameworks.
