JOB TITLE: Assistant Superintendent of School Leadership
REPORTS TO: Chief Learning Officer
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Assistant Superintendent of School Leadership is responsible for leading the academic and operational excellence of all campuses within their assigned feeder pattern or division. This role provides strategic supervision and coaching to campus principals and ensures all campuses demonstrate continuous academic growth strong leadership practices and safe inclusive learning environments.
A central charge of this role is to prevent any campus from receiving a failing grade (D or F) under the Texas Accountability System. This includes proactive leadership of instructional improvement strategies leadership development and system-level alignment with TEA Board and district expectations.
In collaboration with the Chief Learning Officer and other senior leaders the Assistant Superintendent will lead school improvement efforts ensure regulatory compliance align supports to campus needs and maintain high standards for leadership excellence and student outcomes.
All district leaders are expected to act with integrity support organizational goals lead with urgency champion equity and excellence and communicate clearly with all stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in Education Educational Leadership or related field
- Texas Mid-Management or Principal Certification
- Minimum of 10 years in public education with at least 5 years in campus administration or supervisory leadership
- Experience as a successful campus principal
Preferred:
- Doctorate in Education or related field
- Proficiency in Spanish (speaking reading and writing)
- Experience in a diverse high-performing school district
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Deep understanding of the Texas Accountability System including AF ratings STAAR TELPAS and TEA reporting requirements
- Strong familiarity with the Texas Effective Schools Framework (ESF) and campus improvement planning (CIP/TIP) processes
- Knowledge of TEKS-aligned instruction instructional frameworks student intervention systems and assessment practices
- Understanding of district organization policy and procedures to effectively support campus operations and compliance
- Working knowledge of federal and state mandates including Title I Special Education and ESL/Bilingual education requirements
- Proven ability to coach evaluate and develop principals and school leadership teams for sustained school improvement
- Skilled in analyzing multiple data sources (academic attendance behavior staffing and finance) to inform responsive leadership decisions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust resolve conflict and foster collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to align instructional practices and operations to district-wide strategic goals and state accountability standards
- Experience in managing change crisis response and building consensus in dynamic educational environments
- Ability to prevent campus failure by proactively supporting campus improvement data-informed interventions and leadership excellence
- Capacity to drive instructional equity improve student outcomes and promote inclusive learning environments across all campuses
- Ability to manage and lead through complex school systems balancing instructional operational and compliance responsibilities
- Able to maintain high expectations ethical conduct and emotional control under pressure in fast-paced high-stakes situations

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Campus Supervision and Leadership Support:
- Provide leadership and oversight to assigned campuses ensuring continuous academic growth and operational excellence
- Supervise and evaluate campus principals using multiple data sources to inform annual performance reviews
- Set clear performance expectations aligned to district goals TEA standards and Board policy
- Ensure every school receives at least a C or higher rating in the Texas Accountability System
- Monitor school improvement efforts including implementation of Campus Improvement Plans (CIPs)
- Serve as the primary leadership coach and support to principals ensuring alignment to the districts instructional framework
- Lead leadership development initiatives and succession planning within assigned area
Instructional and Operational Alignment:
- Monitor and support the delivery of high-quality TEKS-aligned instruction on every campus
- Partner with Academic Services to ensure curriculum alignment and professional development support
- Ensure fidelity to district expectations for instructional practice student assessment and intervention systems
- Promote the consistent use of data to guide instruction and campus decision-making
- Support campuses in maintaining safe orderly learning environments including adherence to student discipline policies
Accountability Compliance and Performance Monitoring:
- Track performance metrics across campuses including STAAR results TELPAS discipline attendance dropout rates and teacher retention
- Identify performance trends and root causes and work with principals to develop responsive action plans
- Ensure campus adherence to state and federal mandates including Title I special education and bilingual/ESL requirements
- Partner with relevant departments to align central support services to campus needs
- Respond to and resolve campus concerns complaints or crises in a timely and effective manner
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
- Establish strong relationships with campus leaders families community organizations and central office teams
- Serve as a liaison between schools and the Chief Learning Officer Superintendent and Board
- Ensure principals communicate effectively with their school communities regarding academic progress and improvement plans
- Promote shared leadership and community engagement on every campus
Collaboration and Strategic Alignment:
- Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team supporting district-wide strategy and decision-making
- Collaborate across departments (HR Finance Academics Operations etc.) to meet campus needs
- Lead initiatives or task forces as assigned by the Chief Learning Officer or Superintendent
- Represent the district at events Board meetings and community functions as requested
Other Duties:
- Maintain high expectations for professionalism collaboration and ethical conduct
- Maintain required documentation and reports in accordance with district policy
- Comply with all federal requirements for time and effort reporting if federally funded
- Perform all other duties as assigned
